Through time, years, and decades, choruses of long-forgotten voices cry out “find me,” “right old wrongs,” “avenge old scores.” The earth teems with legions of them who may never have justice given them. Robert Nemecek has authored Mr. Locator, a book chronicling the many instances he’s been made to use his unique skills to find missing people, solve “cold” cases, and trace events and people to straighten out mysteries. An expert genealogical researcher, Nemecek has the instincts and perseverance of a bloodhound, especially when cases are tragic and long in need of justice.
Mr. Locator, a play on the author’s talent to find long-buried secrets and events, finds him at the center of several unusual mysteries that require a great deal of ingenuity and effort to solve. He has selected six cases he’s deemed representative of his best work – to make clear the various points of his methods, the myriad details of lost people, things, and forgotten events – so that readers find exactly how the work is a mixture of the humdrum, exciting, awesome, and laborious things the author must accomplish to be on top of his game.
The six cases he’s chosen include: “The Cicero Truck Driver,” “The Errant Widow,” “A Misplaced Aircraft,” “An Unusually Honest Con Artist,” “An AWOL City Controller,” and “Prospecting for Gold in Cripple Creek.”
What does each of these have in common? Each case involves a missing heir, a lost face from a family tree. Some stories have sinister secrets people do not want told, secrets which could tear lives apart. Only Mr. Locator had the ability to put them back together, the the knack to right things in the pristine order before malice set in to require Nemecek’s very special talent into play.
