In his new thriller “The Law and Dan Mesa: East Meet West” (published by iUniverse), Dan Sears introduces readers to an Arizona Ranger who takes his unique brand of justice to the East to battle a dangerous ring of criminals.
Dan Mesa is a man driven by his love of the law and what it stands for. As a key member of the Arizona Rangers in Tucson, Ariz., Mesa becomes heavily involved in an investigation involving a powerful crime syndicate, and when his wife is murdered, Mesa suspects the criminal organization was responsible. Now he will stop at nothing to protect the people he cares about and avenge his wife’s death.
An excerpt from “The Law and Dan Mesa”:
“The policeman turns toward the men saying; ‘Gentlemen, you are under arrest for disturbing the peace, harassment, and anything else I can think of. You are lucky to be alive. That fellow you pissed off could have killed you. That was Ranger Dan Mesa. I am advising you to leave this part of the country or your life won’t be worth a plugged nickel.’”
Sears believes Mesa is a unique hero, but he is also a character readers will find exciting and fresh. “‘The Law and Dan Mesa’ presents a different type of hero, one not seen in other novels. Dan Mesa is part African American, part Hispanic and part Native American. He is complicated person but one most people can relate to if they read the book.”
Ultimately, Sears wants Mesa’s complexities and individuality to allow the character to connect to many different audiences, but he also wants his unique background to show readers that everyone, no matter where they come from or who they are, should believe in themselves and what they are doing in life.
