Spinal Elements has an aggressive product launch schedule introducing amazing solutions to the spine market over the coming months.” Todd Andres, CEO and co-founder of Spinal Elements
Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) August 15, 2012
Spinal Elements, a spine technology company, today announced that they have completed their first series of surgeries with their new minimally invasive surgery (MIS) lumbar system. The system includes a series of towers that connect to Spinal Elements’ Mercury® Classic spinal system and other enabling instrumentation. This allows the surgeon to deliver pedicle screws and rods in either percutaneous or mini-open procedures.
The Mercury Classic system has been on the market since early 2009 and has a successful track record in conventional procedures. In developing the towers that enable the system to be used in MIS procedures, Spinal Elements implemented technology from a portfolio of patents the company licensed.
Spine surgeon Dr. Douglas Musser of Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates comments, “The fact that the Mercury Classic system has been designed to work well as a conventional or MIS system is very beneficial to me. No matter what my surgical plan, I know that the implant system will be the same.”
Todd Andres, CEO and co-founder of Spinal Elements, adds, “The Mercury MIS system is yet another product execution representative of Spinal Elements’ ongoing commitment to addressing the needs of our surgeon customers. Spinal Elements has an aggressive product launch schedule introducing amazing solutions to the spine market over the coming months.”
This launch adds to the company’s rapidly growing line of product offerings. The company just released its Lucent® Ti-Bond™ line of PEEK interbody implants with a porous titanium coating and will be introducing its first allograft product in October. Additionally, the company has entered clinical use of its Lotus™ Posterior Cervical/Thoracic System.
