Competing at this level with brands like these shows how far we have come from a UK catalogue distributor to a global force in the world of B2B eCommerce.
Oxford, UK (PRWEB UK) 16 August 2012
Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the world’s leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, has been shortlisted for The eCommerce Strategy of the Year category at this year’s National Business Awards in partnership with Orange.
Going up against the likes of Groupon, Screwfix and Wiggle Ltd., Electrocomponents will battle it out for the prestigious award, with the winner being revealed at the National Business Awards gala dinner held on 13 November in London.
Andrew McClelland, Chief Operations & Policy Officer, IMRG, judge for the category said: “Exploiting the collaborative and community-building aspects of the web, finalists for The eCommerce Strategy of the Year award are finding new and innovative ways to engage customers. With a massive inventory, complex products and wide range of demanding customers, Electrocomponents has gone above and beyond to keep the discerning B2B market satisfied.”
Keith Reville, Global Marketing Director at Electrocomponents, said: “Being named a finalist of the National Business Awards is a real honour and a reflection of the success of our eCommerce strategy. Competing at this level with brands like these shows how far we have come from a UK catalogue distributor to a global force in the world of B2B eCommerce.”
“eCommerce is a major driver of growth for our business and over the last year we have significantly upgraded our online presence, increased investment in digital marketing and driven record-breaking levels of traffic to our website - one of the most advanced in our industry sector. These are all key steps to achieving our vision of building a £1bn+ eCommerce business at the heart of the company,” he added.
The National Business Awards has today revealed over 150 of Britain’s leading businesses and business leaders as finalists in the prestigious awards programme. Organisations shortlisted include a range of private, public and third sector companies, including National Grid, Marks and Spencer, and London Early Years Foundation.
All National Business Awards finalists represent an annual turnover in excess of £135 billion and collectively employ over 700,000. They cover activities as diverse as digital marketing, international road haulage and logistics, water engineering and life sciences: sectors that reflect key areas of UK capability with high potential for international expansion. The diverse size of the companies entering is also huge – ranging from a business with an annual turnover of less than £50k to high growth and high value companies with multi-billion revenues.
Baroness Virginia Bottomley, Chair of Judges said: “This year has been a challenging environment for British businesses: these finalists demonstrate how companies are succeeding in the current climate through innovation, originality and tenacity. It’s good to see a broad range of companies both in sector and size – an impressive representation of the potential British businesses have. Congratulations to all our finalists.”
The National Business Awards supports Help for Heroes, a charity that offers support and advice for wounded soldiers.
