Magic Ponies, Microsoft & the Mobile Web: What We Learned on the Journey

Chris Bennage, a member of the patterns and practices team at Microsoft, set out to learn just exactly what it meant to develop an app for the mobile web. Chris and his team began with an existing web application built for a previous project and were given the task of making it mobile friendly. Along the way they climbed a mountain of test devices, terminated the bugs of browser inconsistencies, and eventually triumphed over their own misconceptions about the way web development is done. Join Chris at Breaking Development in Dallas as he shares these stories that certainly apply to firms well beyond the Microsoft walls of Redmond, Washington.

About the Presenter: Christopher Bennage is a developer at Microsoft for the patterns & practices team. Over the past year his focus has been on HTML5, JavaScript, and all that that implies. His job at Microsoft is to discover, collect, and encourage best practices.

About the Conference: Breaking Development focuses on new, emerging techniques for web development and design for devices beyond the desktop – mobile phones, tablets, and even televisions. Speakers are hand-selected to ensure challenging, well-delivered talks from a variety of perspectives. The upcoming event will be held September 24-26, 2012 in Grapevine, Texas at the Gaylord Texan.
