Halloween Cross Crusades Return to Bend, Oregon October 26-28

This year's Cross Crusades event in Bend, Oregon will feature a "Cyclo Du Soleil" theme

In the midst of hosting a record nine USA Cycling national championships in five years, Bend will once again play host to the largest gathering of cyclocross racers in the U.S.

The 2012 Halloween Cross Crusade is slated for October 26-28 in a weekend that will include the Halloween Cyclocross Crusades bike races, the fourth annual Clydesdale Championships of the Universe, and the second annual Cyclocross Super D Championships of the Universe. The event represents stops four and five on the River City Bicycles Cross Crusade Cyclocross Series.

Weekend festivities will also include a celebration of arts, culture, and the cycling lifestyle with the fourth annual Cross Culture Art Celebration.

The three-day festival will take place throughout the Old Mill District & Deschutes Brewery property and will feature the following:

The Halloween Cyclocross Crusades bike races will take place at Deschutes Brewery in the Old Mill District on October 27 and 28. More than 1,000 cyclocross racers will don costumes and compete for Cross Crusade points. In addition to two days of epic racing, attendees will enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of the Deschutes Brewery beer garden. Visit http://www.crosscrusade.com for more information.

The fourth annual Cross Culture Art Experience at Deschutes Brewery will feature bike inspired art, Bend’s creative culture, and the rich artistic heritage of the cyclocross community.

The fourth annual Clydesdale Cyclocross Championship of the Universe will take place on Saturday night October 27 at Deschutes Brewery. The event is designed for male racers over 200 pounds and female racers over 160 pounds, and costumes are required.

Deschutes Brewery will host the “Cyclo Du Soleil” warehouse party on Saturday night.

Festival Schedule

Friday October 26

    1-5 p.m.: Cyclocross Super D Championship of the Universe. Open to mountain bikes and cross bikes. The winner of the Cyclocross division will be crowned the “Cyclocross Super D Champion of the Universe.”
    6-9 p.m.: Opening Ceremonies Celebration at Deschutes Brewery
        Cross Culture Art Experience
        Special Screening of Cross Dressed
        Early Registration

Saturday October 29

    8 a.m.-4 p.m.: Halloween Cross Crusade races in the Old Mill District and Deschutes Brewery.    
    8:30-9 p.m.: Clydesdale Championship of the Universe in the Old Mill District and Deschutes Brewery.
    8 p.m.-2 a.m.: Deschutes Brewery “Cyclo Du Soleil” Warehouse Bash

Sunday October 30

    8 a.m.-4 p.m.: Halloween Cross Crusade races in the Old Mill District and Deschutes Brewery.
