Spirit Ready-Ride, Union Iron Workers Motorcycle Club, Teamsters Horsemen host event to raise funds for local cancer research center Sunday, August 19th

Spirit Ready-Ride, a motorcycle retail and repair center in Millvale, in a combined effort with the Union Iron Workers Motorcycle Club and the Teamsters Horsemen, is hosting the 3rd Annual Breast Cancer Research Ride and Benefit on Sunday August 19, 2012.

Donna Sanford, owner of Spirit Ready-Ride, commented, “I’m really honored to have the opportunity to organize the ride this year. Cancer has affected my friends and family, and I think we all can relate to that - this is personal for me. This ride is going to be bigger than ever, and with the support from the city and people of Millvale we’re able to close down the whole street to host a benefit after the ride. We’re going to ride together, raise money together, and have some fun doing it.”

Every dollar from the ride and benefit goes to the Allegheny General Hospital Cancer Research Center. “This is a local ride, so the money we raise is staying local, going to help our local doctors and research facilities help our friends and family,” Sanford says. Both Allegheny General Hospital and The Western Pennsylvania Hospital are participants in the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), which is in addition to the services already provided by the hospital: detection procedures, treatment options, and reconstructive procedures as well as access to over 3,000 breast cancer researchers across the country.

Pre-registration fees for the ride are discounted to $20 per rider and $10 per passenger. Registration the day of the ride is $25 per rider and $15 per passengers. Registration includes your entry to the group ride and admission to the benefit block party immediately following the ride.

The riders will begin assembling at Spirit Ready-Ride, 200 Lincoln Avenue in Millvale, PA at 10:00am. Riders will tour through local highlights and establishments returning to the heart of Millvale for the benefit party.

Admission to the benefit includes food, refreshments, a Chinese auction, select vendors, and live music by Angel Blue and The Prophets. “This is not your average fundraiser,” Sanford explains. “With an entire city street dedicated to the riders and bikes, the block party will be just as fun as the ride!”
