ODYSSEYWARE - Committed to Student Success
Sen. Patty Murray, WA - The economic struggles we’ve faced as a nation have made clear that it is more important than ever that students have access to quality CTE programs.

ODYSSEYWARE, one of the leading publishers of online curriculum for students in grades 3-12, has recently announced the addition of 23 new Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses to its comprehensive online curriculum for the 2012-2013 school-year.

As the focus of the economy shifts away from manufacturing toward service, information, and knowledge, many students graduate from America’s high schools unprepared for careers and college. Meanwhile, the education system in America has continued to focus primarily on college readiness, when in truth, only 69 percent of students graduate from high school in four years, and colleges graduate about half of their students in six years.

Focused on helping students better prepare for college and careers, ODYSSEYWARE’s new CTE courses are tied to national career pathway standards and support the acquisition of core academic skills, employability skills, and job-specific technical skills.

These new courses are ideal for placement into three CTE career clusters: Business Management and Administration; Health Science; and Hospitality and Tourism. Courses appropriate for other career clusters are in development and are planned to be released in the future.

In addition to these courses, the company has also added an Environmental Science and English Language and Composition (for use with AP* courses), and Mathematics 5 has been rewritten and updated.

Committed to providing curriculum that is relevant, a learning management system that is technologically robust, and a high level of service to schools across the country, ODYSSEYWARE is continually enhancing its educational program with tools and resources to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Other improvements for the 2012-13 school year include:

  • ODYSSEYWARE SPARC - Assessments and materials to support Common Core State Standards and help teachers identify student competency levels and provide supplemental materials for targeted skills remediation and practice.
  • ODYSSEYWARE Writer - A web-based diagnostic, skill building, and instructional tool aligned with Common Core English Language Arts Writing Standards and scoring rubrics that allows teachers to create, assign, and accurately score student writing on any topic and enabling documentation of student growth and differentiation of instruction.
  • ODYSSEYWARE Investigations Video Series - A combination of live interviews, real-life footage, motion graphics, and exciting content created to connect classroom content to real world experiences.

ODYSSEYWARE remains committed to the delivery of quality educational materials in a totally web-delivered environment, continually releasing courses, content additions, changes, and improvements at no additional charge to ensure the most current curriculum is always available to your school.
