ODYSSEYWARE, one of the leading publishers of online curriculum for students in grades 3-12, has recently announced the addition of 23 new Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses to its comprehensive online curriculum for the 2012-2013 school-year.

As the focus of the economy shifts away from manufacturing toward service, information, and knowledge, many students graduate from America’s high schools unprepared for careers and college. Meanwhile, the education system in America has continued to focus primarily on college readiness, when in truth, only 69 percent of students graduate from high school in four years, and colleges graduate about half of their students in six years.

Focused on helping students better prepare for college and careers, ODYSSEYWARE’s new CTE courses are tied to national career pathway standards and support the acquisition of core academic skills, employability skills, and job-specific technical skills.

These new courses are ideal for placement into three CTE career clusters: Business Management and Administration; Health Science; and Hospitality and Tourism. Courses appropriate for other career clusters are in development and are planned to be released in the future.

In addition to these courses, the company has also added an Environmental Science and English Language and Composition (for use with AP* courses), and Mathematics 5 has been rewritten and updated.
