Much of today's secular music and it's song lyrics are poisoning the hearts and minds of today's youth with messages that are negatively impacting the spiritual growth of Christian teenagers and even those with no religious beliefs. In a world spiraling downhill morally and spiritually, where half today's teenagers come from broken homes and many teenagers are searching for answers to their life's struggles, teenagers turn to music and song lyrics for help and a place of refuge to escape their problems. But... what do they find?
Sadly, much of today's secular music offers little hope, constructive solutions, encouragement or peace. Music can validate certain negative, harmful, unhealthy behaviors like anger, rebellion against authority, violence, drug and alcohol use, pre-marital sex are okay. Too many Christian teenagers are buying into the deceptive and misleading messages in some secular music and the voices that speak through song lyrics.
Too many Christian teenagers know more song lyrics from their music than they do Bible verses!
Nick Costello knows the power of music to capture the easily influenced heart and mind of a teenager and then communicate a message. Nick spent 25 years in the secular music industry, attaining his childhood dream of becoming a rock star with the Canadian band Toronto. Now, after his conversion to Christ and more than 20 years ministering to youth, he helps Christian and non-Christian teenagers by teaching them how to find answers to all their struggles through a relationship with God and the ultimate hope for them found in the Bible.
Nick claims, "Too many Christian youth are hindering their spiritual growth by worshiping their ungodly music more than they worship God. They willingly allow forces of darkness to pollute their right, positive, godly thinking and beliefs. They are being led astray, away from God and into a minefield where they learn values, beliefs, behaviors and lifestyles that end in a dead end street of potential suffering, pain and hopelessness. Many, are drifting away from their intimacy with Christ!"
Nick's new book, KISS WHAT? will challenge, encourage and teach today's Christian teenager how to mature in their spiritual growth, make wise music choices, learn to resist peer pressure, trust God in all things and become a champion worshiper of Christ!
This is a very relevant issue of concern for parents and youth leaders today. Effective parenting teenagers receives a big boost from this book.
