San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) August 20, 2012
The Bariatric Medical Institute of Texas (BMI of Texas), which specializes in a variety of weight loss surgery procedures in Texas, today announced that bariatric surgeon Richard Englehardt has joined the practice.
He joins BMI of Texas co-founders and weight loss surgeons Terive Duperier and Mickey Seger, who have been performing bariatric surgery in San Antonio for years, and are recognized by peers and patients for their excellent surgical skills and patient care. Dr. Jennifer Seger, a board-certified bariatrician, heads up the practice’s medical weight loss program, which is focused on helping patients lose weight and improve their overall health.
“We are thrilled Dr. Englehardt is joining our team,” said Dr. Duperier. “We’ve had the opportunity to operate with Dr. Englehardt for several months and in addition to his excellent surgical skills, he really cares for his patients. It’s a great opportunity for the city to have another skilled bariatric surgeon, and we’re also excited about the opportunity to expand our practice and help more patients.”
Dr. Englehardt recently completed a Fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Texas at Houston, where he performed and assisted with bariatric and advanced laparoscopic surgeries, provided inpatient and outpatient patient care, instructed residents and medical students from The University of Texas at Houston, and conducted and presented clinical and basic science research projects. Prior to the fellowship, he completed his General Surgery Residency at Providence Hospital where he received the Administrative Chief Resident Award and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Surgeon Award. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa Roy J. Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and the University of Utah.
BMI of Texas assists patients throughout their entire weight loss journey. After attending the free, educational seminar, patients are assigned a patient advocate to help coordinate the extensive paperwork and insurance stipulations necessary for surgical intervention. Post-operatively, the doctors continue to follow their patients to ensure long-term weight loss success. As part of its comprehensive program, BMI of Texas offers an on-site dietitian for nutritional counseling and hosts support groups where post-op patients can discuss a wide variety of issues, such as relationships and dietary concerns.
BMI of Texas is committed to helping patients achieve success in their battle against obesity utilizing a variety of proven weight loss methods. BMI of Texas helps patients through various surgical procedures including gastric bypass, lap band and gastric sleeve, or through its medical weight loss program. Additionally, the surgeons perform a full spectrum of advanced laparoscopic procedures, including laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication (anti-reflux surgery), laparoscopic colon surgery, laparoscopic pancreatic surgery, and laparoscopic hernia surgeries.
Dr. Seger and Dr. Duperier are designated a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence® by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. In addition, both surgeons and Dr. Jennifer Seger were recently recognized again as “Top Doctors” by Scene in SA magazine. Dr. Duperier was named a 2011 Texas Super Doctor by Super Doctors and Dr. Seger was recognized as one of the 2012 Best Doctors in America® by Best Doctors, Inc.
