Concussions and brain injuries have become a hot-topic issue in sports after some very high-profile players have sustained serious injuries. Football has the highest rate of concussions (55,007 annually) than any high school sport. Source: US Centres for Disease Control. The new Shockbox Impact Alert Sensor technology detects the number and severity of hits a player takes and sends it to your smartphone. This is a vital tool in the identification and management of concussions.

Studies have shown that many concussions go undetected and that multiple concussions can lead to serious lifelong physical and cognitive health issues. Shockbox is a tool that allows coaches and trainers to keep a history of head impact data for each player, assisting them in making more informed decisions from the sideline for players who may be at-risk of receiving a concussion.

Former Army Bomb Disposal Officer Danny Crossman, CEO of Impakt Protective, weighs in and said that "Impakt Protective is thrilled to have an athlete of the caliber of Laurent Robinson joining the Shockbox team. Robinson is known as a team leader, league veteran, and experienced wide receiver with a prestigious collegiate and professional career. Robinson had a career-high in receptions (54), yards (858) and touchdowns (11) last year in 2011 and is ready for a big season this year in Jacksonville.”

"Having suffered concussions earlier in my career, I understand firsthand the need for products that alert me when to get evaluated by my team trainer and reduce the risk of repeat injuries. Shockbox allows me to know when a hit is too hard," said Robinson.

Crossman stated, "Shockbox is now on teams across the US and Canada in professional and minor league football and ice hockey; Robinson joins a group of athletes in hockey, skiing, and snowboarding who are taking the Shockbox Impact Alert Sensor to the game.
