Michele L. Stocker Speaks at The Links Inc. Women of Color Empowerment Conference

(August 16, 2012) — Michele L. Stocker, a litigator in the Fort Lauderdale office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, was selected as a presenter for the 2nd annual Women of Color Empowerment Conference held Aug. 11th in Fort Lauderdale. The full-day conference was presented by the North Broward County Chapter of The Links Inc.
Stocker addressed the challenges faced by diverse women in the corporate ranks in a panel discussion titled, "Climbing the Corporate Ladder and Shattering the Glass Ceiling." Earlier this year, Stocker was selected by the National Diversity Council as a recipient of the "Glass Ceiling Award" at their Florida Women's Conference.

Participating organizations at the conference included the Urban League of Broward County, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and its Zeta Rho Omega Chapter, Broward County Delta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and Jack and Jill Children's Center.

According to its website, The Links Inc. is an international not-for-profit corporation established in 1946. The membership is comprised of 12,000 concerned, committed and talented African-American women with 270 chapters located in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. It is one of the nation's oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.

Stocker is chair of the firm's Financial Services Litigation Practice and is a member of the Litigation, Subprime & Mortgage Markets and Labor & Employment Practices. Stocker holds a J.D. degree from Columbia University School of Law, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a B.A., cum laude, from Princeton University. Stocker is admitted to practice in Florida and New York. Stocker serves on the Boards of Directors for both the Crockett Foundation and the Children’s Home Society of Florida, Intercoastal Division.
