Miami Co-Managing Shareholder Goes ‘Over the Edge’ to Raise Funds for the Miami Children’s Initiative

Jaret L. Davis will be rappelling 19 stories down the all-glass side of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel to raise funds for the Miami Children’s Initiative (MCI).

Davis will be rappelling 19 stories down the all-glass side of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel to raise funds for the Miami Children’s Initiative (MCI). Hosted by MCI, in partnership with Over the Edge USA and the JW Marriot Marquis Miami, the proceeds raised will benefit the children and families of Liberty City in Miami. Davis is one of approximately 90 participants who will take part in this two-day fundraiser set to begin on August 17, 2012. Click here for an itinerary of events.

The MCI was first established in 2006 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. According to its website, the vision of the MCI is to create a prosperous Liberty City by transforming the lives of children and working to help families obtain the resources needed to grow strong and achieving children. The nonprofit is one of three large-scale social change efforts in the state of Florida modeled after the nationally known Harlem Children’s Zone.

Davis is a shareholder in the firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice and represents clients ranging from publicly-traded companies to startups in connection with their capital-raising activities in both the capital and credit markets and with their acquisition and organic growth strategies. His practice spans industries but he has a particular concentration within the information technology and biotech/life sciences industries.

In addition to sitting on the Board of Trustees of MCI, Davis is a highly recognized figure in the South Florida community. He volunteers for numerous philanthropic organizations and serves on the Board of Directors for Miami Children’s Hospital, City Year - Miami, SEED Foundation, and Friends of Little River. Davis was also previously on the boards of the American Diabetes Association, and the Miami Coalition for Christians and Jews. He graduated magna cum laude in 1999 from the University of Miami School of Law and remains an active alumnus holding a number of leadership positions within the various alumni circles at the law school.
