The Marc Pro device can give you an edge over standard strength training when it comes to boosting muscle strength and reducing low back discomfort, according to a new report published in OnSite Fitness Magazine.
In a report that appeared in the magazine’s May issue, fitness expert and researcher Wayne Wescott, Ph.D details his latest research project. The research revealed how individuals combining Marc Pro electrical stimulation with strength training exercises had a greater rate of improvement compared to their counterparts who only did strength training. The Marc Pro device uses comfortable electrical signals to produce non-tetanizing and non-fatiguing muscle contractions in the application area.
As part of the study, 80 participants (14 males and 66 females) performed a circuit of 12 standard Nautilus resistance machine exercises two days a week for eight weeks. Roughly half of the participants also underwent one-hour of Marc Pro electrical stimulation to their low back muscles after each strength training session.
After eight weeks, researchers assessed and examined changes in body composition, low back strength and low back fatigue. While both groups experienced significant improvements in those areas, the rate of improvement was higher among those subjects who did both strength exercise and Marc Pro electrical stimulation.
“We suggest that the most effective means for reducing low back fatigue is to perform a standard program of resistance exercise followed by an hour of electrical stimulation (Marc Pro) to the low back muscles,” Westcott’s report states.
The Marc Pro is intended for muscle conditioning by stimulating muscle in order to improve or facilitate muscle performance. The technology has been used for years in sports medicine and with players and trainers from more than 40 professional teams. The Marc Pro technology has been researched extensively in multiple peer-reviewed published articles.
“I have been using the technology that powers the Marc Pro device for more than 25 years,” said Gary Vitti, Head Athletic Trainer for the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers. “It’s a great product that I recommend to anyone competitive.”
