Baltimore's Best Do-Gooder, Adam Van Bavel thinks Baltimore should be known for it's Do-Gooders rather than being known as the town where they filmed The Wire. Van Bavel has been working for almost two decades to support deserving local causes. Along the way he's met some pretty amazing people who've created impactful organizations strengthening Baltimore and its residents.
Charm City Animal Rescue founded by Michelle Ingrodi is just one of the local causes Van Bavel supports. CCAR works 24/7 to ensure Baltimore's less fortunate animals are loved and find loving homes once leaving her shelter. CCAR's motto: "Speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, defend those who cannot defend themselves, and plead the cause of those in need."
Mustaches for Kids Baltimore founded by Pranav Saha has raised over $100,000 for Baltimore City classrooms since its inception 4 years ago. Not bad for local guys donning mustaches once a month each year. This program is completely independent of any state or local funding and relies on word of mouth growth...literally.
SouthBMore.com was founded by Kevin Lynch and although it's not a nonprofit, Kevin's focus is promoting South Baltimore and everything that makes it uniquely awesome. Kevin has worked tirelessly to interview local business owners and residents as well as orchestrating local cleanups all in the effort of promoting this wonderful part of Baltimore.
If you would like to see Baltimore get the credit it deserves and more importantly, the people/causes above and the many others working towards a better Baltimore...please do your part and vote in the link below to support them in the City Paper Readers' Poll.
