Community Branding Agency North Star to Partner in Federal Program Aimed at Neighborhood Stabilization

Community branding specialist North Star Destination Strategies is one of a select group of marketing professionals from across the nation chosen to participate in a non-profit federal program designed to reposition the image and brand of distressed neighborhoods in order to bolster housing demand and increase private sector investment.

Community branding specialist North Star Destination Strategies is one of a select group of marketing professionals from across the nation chosen to participate in a non-profit federal program designed to reposition the image and brand of distressed neighborhoods in order to bolster housing demand and increase private sector investment.

The initiative is one of the many programs launched by NeighborWorks America, a federal organization charged in part with community stabilization and growth. Representing communities from coast to coast, 16 NeighborWorks members received grants for the program. North Star is partnering with the NeighborWorks member from Chicago, Illinois (Neighborhood Housing Services) in West Humboldt Park and the member from Poughkeepsie, New York (Hudson River Housing) for the Middle Main neighborhood. Intensive research is currently underway in both communities with a fall completion date scheduled.

They have just been hit particularly hard by America’s housing and financial crisis.”
The NeighborWorks America marketing initiative follows analysis that suggests communities hard hit by foreclosure face challenges of weak image and poor public perception, causing many prospective homebuyers, renters and small businesses to be wary of putting down roots in these neighborhoods. This is too often the case despite an abundance of affordable homes, attractive amenities, and active, engaged residents.
