According to sjpd.org, the San Jose Police Officer’s Association (POA) Charitable Foundation has recently formed an emergency assistance fund on behalf of three children who lost their parents in a tragic double homicide.
Their parents, Marybel and Pedro Jimenez, were found murdered on July 23rd in the 300 block of N. 7th Street in San Jose, California. All three children were at the scene of the crime at the time of the murders.
As the SJPD continues to gather evidence and pursue leads, a number of officers expressed interest in developing an additional program to provide financial support to the children. Since then, the San Jose POA has been coordinating the Victim’s Assistance Fund and is encouraging the public to help out in any way that they can.
The public may contribute their donations on-line at http://www.sjpoa.com, or send checks to the following address:
SJPOA 1151 North Fourth Street
San Jose, CA 95112
Checks made payable to:
SJPOA – CF and indicate “Jimenez” under memo.
The Police Department has also coordinated its own personal fundraiser and is sending all proceeds to the victims’ families to help care for the children.
According to the San Jose Police Department’s official crime statistics, thirty nine homicides were recorded in 2011, while twenty homicides were recorded in 2010. The homicide rate per 100,000 people rose from 2.0 in 2010 to 4.1 in 2011. Statistics for 2012 have yet to be released via the SJPD website.
John Bisnar, California personal Injury lawyer, has been assisting injury victims and providing the public with injury prevention resources for decades. “The losses experienced by the child victims involved are unimaginable. The fact that the service men and women at the San Jose Police Department spent their personal time to help contribute to the aid of these children will hopefully inspire others to follow suit.
Our firm has made a donation and we will do our part to spread information about the Victims’ Fund and raise awareness to help these children recover,” says Mr. Bisnar.
