With an expected mid-September introduction of Apple's new iPhone 5 model, retailers and cell phone providers have dropped their prices and are offering discounts on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S devices. As the release of the iPhone 5 gets closer more consumers will begin to take advantage of even lower prices.
Just last week Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T dropped their iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S devices by $50. Not to be left behind, retailers like Target and Best Buy have also reduced their prices. Target is currently selling the iPhone 4S for $179 while Best Buy has taken $50 off their iPhone 4, now selling that model for a mere $49. These prices have customers heading to chain stores to find the best deals on iPhone prices.
According to the Wall Street Journal blog, Apple retailers are matching price offers on devices, which is something they have not done before. Although they have done no advertising, the company is telling their retail employees that they may offers discounted prices for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S when customers bring up the lower prices being offered by other retailers. This is an interesting move as Apple rarely discounts prices until a product has been replaced by a newer model.
Everyone stands to benefit from these price reductions. Not only will retailers and service providers start to see a rise in sales but so will case manufacturers. This means a bigger demand from companies like Shades Cases. "In conjunction with the release of the new iPhone 5, wireless carriers are planning large price drops for new iPhone 4S customers. We are anticipating increased demand for our Shades Cases for iPhone 4/4S this fall and throughout the Holiday season, and stand ready to meet the needs of these new iPhone owners. Shades Cases for iPhone products are great options for iPhone users that desire full device protection, an ultra-thin design, and 11 attractive colors to choose from," says Rob Danish, CEO of Shades Cases Inc.
Consumers may do best to wait out these current price reductions. Once the iPhone 5 is released the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s may become even cheaper. Retailers and mobile providers will continue to compete with each other and eventually work towards completely ridding their stock of older version devices.
