Professional Therapy Associates, a Kalispell-based physical therapy organization for over two decades, has taken on a gold sponsorship for the Sept. 15, 2012 Huckleberry 100, a grueling 102-mile bicycle race in and around Flathead Valley through multiple kinds of terrain – farmland, mountains, valleys, glaciers and towns.

Professional Therapy Associates (PTA) will be helping out by setting up a booth during the race for onlookers and after the race for participants.

For support and expert advice, PTA will do the following at their booth:

  • Educating the public on physical therapy
  • Handing out useful tips for injury prevention and healing
  • Providing free injury screenings by physical therapists

Blaine Stimac, CEO for Professional Therapy Associates, said, “It’s a natural pairing for us to sponsor the Huckleberry 100. Riding for a hundred miles is very taxing physically, and physical therapists can be quite helpful when the muscles have taken a hundred-mile beating. Plus, the Huckleberry goes through every town where we have an office.”

Although the main race is over 100 miles long and more suited to hardcore riders such as visiting 1984 Olympic gold medalist, Steve Hegg, riders can instead opt for a 50-mile course, a 25-mile course, or the 12-mile family ride.

As mentioned in the Flathead Beacon, the Huckleberry 100 was started over thirty years ago, but took a break in the mid-1990s until it was revived last year by Fresh Life Radio, the 91.3 FM Christian radio station of Fresh Life Church.(1) Courtenay Dulak, of Fresh Life Church, and Ron Brunk, of Glacier Cyclery, are organizing this year’s event.

“As Flathead Valley residents ourselves, with offices in Kalispell, Whitefish and Columbia Falls, we take great pride in not only providing physical therapy services to the community, but also supporting causes that assist others in the community. Our purpose is to help our community, and whenever and however we can contribute, we will,” said Stimac.
