Pier 33 is appreciative of the opportunity to contribute to the on-water safety of the boating and waterfront community in New Buffalo.
New Buffalo, Michigan (PRWEB) August 21, 2012
Pier 33 Marina of St. Joseph, Michigan was recently honored by the City of New Buffalo for making a substantial contribution to local boating safety.
As the 2012 boating season got underway, the City determined a new marine patrol boat was needed to meet the growing need for on-water assistance and rescue and to replace an existing boat that had been damaged.
The City was able to locate and choose a new Pursuit C 230 Center Console that was in stock at Pier 33 and moved quickly to put the boat into service. Pier 33 provided the City with a special municipal safety & patrol discount to help bring the project in at budget.
In choosing the Pursuit C 230, City officials focused on suitability for Lake Michigan duty, durability and quality of build, functionality of the Pursuit design and the ability of Pier 33 to provide professional, timely support. Pursuit Boats is a division of S2 Yachts, which is headquartered in Holland, Michigan. The Michigan heritage of the Pursuit brand dates back to the founding of Slickcraft Boats by Leon Slikkers in 1954.
New Buffalo Mayor William Geisler issued a Proclamation that was presented to Pier 33 General Manager Tighe Curran, designating July 17 as Pier 33 Appreciation Day in New Buffalo, Michigan.
Curran commented “Pier 33 is appreciative of the opportunity to contribute to the on-water safety of the boating and waterfront community in New Buffalo. We wish all of the boaters, beachgoers and especially the members of Chief Pitchford’s marine patrol, a safe and enjoyable summer season in 2012 and beyond”.
The new Pursuit C 230 was outfitted with electronics by Rob Cook Marine Service of New Buffalo, MI and Tele-Rad of Benton Harbor, MI and is now in service patrolling the local harbor and nearby beaches along Lake Michigan.
Pier 33 is a full-service marina in St. Joseph, Michigan and is a new boat dealer for Pursuit, Chaparral and Scout Boats.
