Last week, the Futures Collegiate Baseball League concluded its postseason playoffs, which saw the Nashua (N.H.) Silver Knights capture their second straight championship in the nine-team summer college baseball league.
For the 2012 season, the FCBL included clubs in Massachusetts (Brockton, Lynn, Leominster, Pittsfield and Vineyard Haven); Connecticut (Torrington); New Hampshire (Nashua and Rochester) and Maine (Old Orchard Beach). Featuring some of the best collegiate players from schools throughout the United States, FCBL rules mandate that half of the players on each club’s roster must either be natives of New England, or be student-athletes at a college in New England. The FCBL plays a 54-game regular-season schedule.
On Deck Sports is a sponsor of the league, which is now in its second season. Futures League clubs have already taken advantage of On Deck Sports’ wide range of products, including a new ATEC Pro Backstop at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass., home of the North Shore Navigators and Fisher College baseball. The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks also purchased used artificial turf for the batting cage at Vineyard Baseball Park.
“We’re excited to partner with a New England-based company like On Deck Sports,” FCBL commissioner Chris Hall said. “The Futures League’s stadiums and players have already benefited from their high-quality products.”
