Capital Region seniors will continue to receive nutritious home-delivered meals thanks to the support from the CDPHP® Workforce Team Challenge. On August 21, CDPHP and the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC) presented a $10,000 check to Senior Services of Albany to support the organization’s Meals on Wheels program.

Senior Services of Albany was one of two local not-for-profits selected as a “Charity of Choice” to benefit from monies raised from the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge event. The organization prepares and delivers almost 1,000 meals a day to 500 seniors throughout the Capital Region. It costs over $1.5 million a year to run the program, which is only partially funded by the government.

“This support enables Senior Services of Albany to continue to provide the elderly with vital nutrition and transportation services in a time of growing need and dwindling government support. We cannot thank HMRRC and CDPHP enough for support, honor and recognition,” said Jane Schramm, CEO, Senior Services of Albany.

“The Meals on Wheels program provides thousands of meals for the elderly who would otherwise lack these essential humanitarian services. I’m thrilled the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge continues to grow and is able to support vital services throughout our community,” said Mike Rabideau, race director, CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge.

“It is my pleasure to support an organization like Senior Services of Albany, which works tirelessly to ensure the health, independence and vitality of seniors throughout the Capital Region. I am thrilled that so many organizations and their employees continue to embrace the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge and all it does to promote the health and wellness of the communities we serve,” said John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO, CDPHP.
