SNL Financial today was named to Inc. Magazine’s annual list of fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. For the fifth consecutive year, SNL was the only Charlottesville-based company to make the 2012 edition of the "Inc. 5000," with 2011 revenues of $136.7 million, an increase of 58 percent over the past three years.

The "Inc. 5000" list ranks privately held companies based upon three-year revenue growth through 2011. SNL’s level of revenue growth placed the company at No. 3338 out of 5000 qualifying companies. SNL was one of only 13 Virginia-based companies on the list with revenues of $100 million or more.

Mike Chinn, SNL's president remarked, "We are honored, once again, to be recognized by Inc. Magazine for the continued growth of our company. In our 25th anniversary year, we expanded our global footprint with new offices in Hong Kong Singapore, Denver and Milwaukee, introduced a new product for the European market, and made numerous improvements to our existing product offerings. These achievements would not have been possible without the dedication and determination of our more than 2,000 employees around the globe."

The 2012 Inc. 500 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2008 to 2011. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2008. Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2011. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2008 is $100,000; the minimum for 2011 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. Companies on the Inc. 500 are featured in Inc.’s September issue. They represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at
