United4Defense Kickoff Party Created A Buzz Around Kendall Square
- August 21, 2012 Boston, MA
United4Defense, the new social networking group for professionals in the defense community, threw a kickoff party last Thursday night. The evening was a wonderful success with 30 guests, a sampling of local beer, and remote control robots for club members to test out. The party began with many handshakes and exchanging of business cards, followed by an interesting presentation by iRobot regarding their line of defense robots. “It was a very informative first meeting with an outstanding presentation from iRobot about their support to inspect the damage at the Fukushima power plants near Tokyo. More importantly it offered time to meet other managers and engineers in the defense industry. I hope that this event continues to provide a glimpse at other new technology and applications with the same time to meet and engage in conversation with representatives of local defense-minded companies.” said attendee, Dr. Glenn Thoren, Program Manager, Draper Laboratory. The event ended with guests racing robots and talking about when the next event would be (tentatively September 20th). For more information or to be included in all future invitations, please email u4dboston(at)gmail(dot)com. Attending events is free of charge.
United4Defense’s goal is to get local professionals to network and learn about innovative defense-related technologies in a casual, laid-back atmosphere. Founded by a group of professionals in Kendall Square, it aims to introduce the defense community to a diverse new crowd.
