Buxton, a leading customer analytics firm, has been retained through a partnership with the Downtown Sacramento Partnership (DSP) to focus on development within the downtown core. Buxton will assess the retail and restaurant development opportunities, with a focus on Downtown and Old Sacramento.
“Hiring Buxton to study and identify which consumers work and live in the downtown area is a key step in retaining and attracting businesses in the Downtown District,” said Michael Ault, DSP executive director. “This research will help our retail recruitment manager define our marketplace and assist property owners and brokers to match the appropriate retail use with the space available. Ultimately, this will help us reach our optimum retail mix.”
“Retail is a critical piece of any vibrant downtown development, and the Downtown Sacramento Partnership has done a great job in making that a priority in their economic development strategy,” said Lisa Hill, vice president of Buxton. “By partnering with Buxton, the DSP will have a much better idea of who is shopping and dining downtown, including residents, the downtown workforce, and visitors. Most importantly the DSP is going to understand the growth opportunities these types of consumers bring and how to best pursue those opportunities.”
Buxton will apply its proven retail matching methodology as it determines the DSP’s trade areas and consumer profiles.
