Ellen Nelson Joins Horton Group as Branding/Marketing Specialist

Recent addition to the Nashville marketing company brings more than 20 years experience in all aspects of journalism along with an extensive background in brand building and public relations. Nelson is the latest member of the Horton Group team and represents a key asset as the company works to grow into a full-service agency.

Horton Group may have started in the 1990s developing and designing websites, but it’s rapidly become one of Nashville’s go-to, full-service agencies. The addition of Ellen Nelson provides even more power to the many Horton Group public relations and advertising services available for businesses and organizations in the Middle Tennessee region and across the nation. Horton Group Director of Operations, Andy Hartley states, “Ellen fills a much-needed niche at Horton Group, allowing us to branch out into even more strategic planning and grow our company by using her writing skills and creativity.”

Nelson offers a wide range of skills with a versatile background in journalism, marketing and public relations. Before joining the team at Horton Group, Nelson worked as editor of Nfocus magazine, marketing director at Lipman Brothers, columnist for The Tennessean, vice president for national media relations at Dye, Van Mol & Lawrence (DVL), associate producer at News Channel 5 CBS in Nashville, and as the associate producer for WLAC-AM Morning Talk Shows.

When asked about her role at Horton Group, Nelson stated, “There’s nothing I enjoy more than working with a group of creative people who all have a true passion for building our clients’ businesses. The fact that Horton Group’s roots are in technology and web design is a strong indicator that this is the company to work with in an age where most marketing and advertising has gone digital. Nelson grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and attended Duke University and Vanderbilt University, graduating with a B.A. in English. As a Nashville native, she is passionate about the growth of the city, her family, her dogs and friends.
