New Radio Show Features Heating and Cooking with Wood-Burning Appliances

Wood-Fired Radio with host Marge Padgitt premiers Saturday, September 1, 2012. The program features authors, chefs, and contractors who specialize in high-efficiency wood-fired heating and cooking methods, and chimney, fireplace, masonry heater, brick oven and barbecue maintenance and use.

Wood-Fired Radio is unique in that it is the only international radio program of its kind.

Marge Padgitt is a 27-year chimney industry veteran, NFI Wood-burning Specialist and CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep. She is president of HearthMasters, Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri and is the Educational Director and past president of the Midwest Chimney Safety Council. She served on the board of directors for the Masonry Heater Association of North America, the National Chimney Sweep Guild, and the Midwest Hearth, Patio, and Barbeque Association. Padgitt has written 12 books, including the Chimney and Hearth Pro's Resource Book, and has several industry books and educational DVD's in the works. Margie was host of the Hearth and Home Show on KCXL in Kansas City for five years.

Wood-Fired Radio is unique in that it is the only international radio program of its kind. Marge emphasizes proper use and maintenance of high-efficiency wood-burning appliances and safety tips such as how to avoid chimney fires and carbon monoxide poisoning, what type of wood to burn, and how to choose the best wood-burning heating or cooking appliance for a home.

Guests featured on the first program are Steve Bushway, president, and Richard Smith, Executive Director of the Masonry Heater Association of North America and Quillan Glynn, chef and owner of Pizza Bella Restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri. Topics are masonry heaters and brick ovens, and use of a wood-fired oven in a restaurant.
