Link Home Security Among the First to Carry the 2GIG Heat/Smoke/Freeze Sensor

Link Home Security offers the unique 2Gig combination heat/smoke/freeze sensors starting this week. The new sensors are available to both new and existing customers.

Link Home Security, a division of Fire Protection Service Corporation, is among the first this week to offer the next generation sensor for home and small business use. The SMKT3-345 offers the same reliable functionality and features as the SMKT2, but with the added benefit of freeze detection. It’s more customizable than previous models by allowing separation of the smoke, heat and freeze features enabling the alarm to detect one, two or all three.

“Many of our customers want the added benefit of having a central station monitoring their home or business for fire response. Most traditional smoke and fire detection systems simply sound an audible alarm—which does little to protect the owner if they are not present or unable to exit the premises.”, says Link Business Manager Debbie Elliott. “We now offer the added protection against potential freezing temperatures.”

The SMKT3, which costs around $75, allows customers to receive notifications via text messaging, email or a call from a central station operator when the temperature reaches a certain threshold—in addition to the detection of heat and smoke. “This is ideal for our customers with second homes or cabins as well as customers who care for elderly parents or neighbors.”, says Director of Marketing Justin Fawson. “It appeals to our existing family of customers who want to be informed about what is occurring at their home or business.” The sensor is sold as part of a 2Gig security and home automation solution. Link Home Security combines a customizable security and automation solution with premium customer support. “We support our customers through every step of the process—from ordering to installation to changing a battery,” says Elliott. “Our goal is to save our customer’s money by offering innovative products coupled with the support they need to take control of their security and home automation.”

Link’s customers are able to take control through a smartphone app that gives them direct access to their security and home automation products. With the app (or by logging in online), they can control door locks, lighting, thermostats and other z-wave wireless devices. They also have the ability to arm and disarm their system remotely and view live video feeds from their cameras. With many home owners and renters abandoning traditional phone lines, Link also facilitates this transition by only offering panels with a built-in cellular connection, which does not require a home phone line.
