World-renowned cruise ship, Carnival Spirit, will have a new full-time home, when it arrives on Australian shores this October.
The ship’s journey will be the first time that Carnival Cruises will venture into Australian waters, with the Port of Sydney set to become the permanent home for the Carnival Spirit.
Online-based travel agent, Deck Chair Cruising, will welcome the Carnival Spirit to its growing list of cruise companies, taking the market’s ship quality to another level.
The decision to bring the Carnival Spirit to Australia was warmly received by Deck Chair Cruising Director, Scott Walton, who is excited about the opportunities a new ship will bring to Deck Chair Cruises.
“Carnival was a pioneer in the concept of short, value-for-money cruises, and this is the kind of spirit we are looking for in the cruise lines we represent”, he said.
“In recent years, cruising in Australia has continued to grow and become one of the biggest industries in the Australian tourism sector.”
“By welcoming the Carnival Spirit onboard we are ensuring we continue to meet the needs of our cruisers, by providing a greater variety of fun and less expensive cruises.”
With a capacity to carry 2,667 passengers and 930 crew members, the Carnival Spirit will be primarily targeted to Australian and New Zealand travellers.
It will also undergo a process of becoming subtly “Australianised”, offering a greater range of Aussie beers and changes to onboard entertainment and children’s activities to suit Australian cruisers.
“The world-famous Carnival WaterWorks© waterslide playground, adult exclusive areas and high number of cabins with private balconies are set to appeal to families, singles and couples alike,” Mr Walton said.
“The Carnival Spirit is highly regarded for offering the chance to do, see, try and taste it all. It emanates fun, glamour, style and entertainment, all rolled into one.”
Carnival Cruises Australia from October 2012, with cruises scheduled for New Zealand and Pacific Islands destinations, on a year-round basis.
