Dragons are, in my opinion, always an interesting topic. Usually I find other books use dragons as the ‘good guys’ and in a medieval setting. My book is set in present time.

A group of teenagers living normal, quiet lives make a discovery that will change the course of their lives forever in “Why Me?” (published by Trafford Publishing), the adventure novel by Stephanie Collins that appeals to adults and teenagers alike.
Set in the small Midwestern town of Bluecreek, “Why Me?” is told in the first-person by the story’s narrator and main protagonist, Skyler Black, a teenager struggling to live in peace with his stepfather, Louis.
When Skyler, his twin brother, Tyler, and four of their friends discover six mysterious eggs in the woods surrounding Bluecreek, their lives quickly change. The group of six teens go from thinking about dating, school, parents and teachers to thinking about medieval creatures after the eggs hatch into dragons.
The dragons quickly mature into adulthood and begin to wreak havoc on Bluecreek and its residents. After Skyler’s mother and his best friend are killed, he and his friends know they must band together to save their town from destruction. Will they succeed before it’s too late?
“Dragons are, in my opinion, always an interesting topic,” Collins explains when asked what makes her book different. “Usually I find other books use dragons as the ‘good guys’ and in a medieval setting. My book is set in present time.”
About the Author
Stephanie Collins was born to Air Force parents and joined the Army after high school, spending four years in active duty and over two years with the Illinois National Guard as an ammunition specialist. During that time, she traveled to more countries than most people visit in a lifetime. “Before the Army I was the invisible girl at school, never talking to anyone unless they talked to me first. Now, though I’m still shy sometimes, I’m definitely not the same person I used to be,” she says. Crediting Stephen King as her main source of inspiration, “Why Me?” came to Collins in a dream when she was 16 and she wrote it down as fast as she could. Since then, her imagination has opened up further than she’d ever thought possible.
