The Drupal Association, an organization dedicated to helping the open-source Drupal CMS project flourish, has named Ben Finklea the chair of the Drupal Branding and Marketing Committee. Finklea is the CEO of Volacci, the leader in Internet marketing for Drupal-based Web strategies, and a veteran contributor to the Drupal community.

“Drupal is transforming the Internet and implementations are skyrocketing,” said Finklea. “The Drupal community is a force of creative and technical people dedicated to advancing the open-source Web infrastructure. This committee seeks to advance the understanding of Drupal and forward its visibility worldwide.”

As the chair of the Drupal Marketing Committee, Finklea and his team of community members will focus on educating and promoting the Drupal Association, its vision and the technology itself.

“At DrupalCon London, I announced that Drupal needed to get serious about marketing,” said Dries Buytaert, Drupal’s founder. “The formation of this committee was a grassroots effort and is a natural next step. I'm excited about the team that Ben's building and I expect great things from them."

A Drupal user since 2005 and a Drupal Association member since 2009, Finklea is a thought leader in Drupal marketing and a serial technology entrepreneur. He is the author of "Drupal 6 Search Engine Optimization," a step-by-step guide for ranking high in search engines with professional tips and best practices for Drupal websites.

Other members of the committee include community members Marta Betts, Steve Purkiss, Vesa Palmu, Doug Vann, Betsy Ensley, Ron Pruett, Geoff Bock, Adam Waid, Jayne Maze, Danielle Sheffler, Omer Atakoglu, Orkut Murat Yilmaz, Danita Bowman, Kenna McCabe and Josh Fischer.
