On August 29th, collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution CEO John Monderine offers a response to an article published on theadvertiser.com which discusses how Louisiana Representative Chris Broadwater wishes to improve the state’s debt collection methods.
According to the article, resulting from a combination of fines, from overdue medical equipment rentals to missed tuition payments, a total of $1.5 billion is owed to the state government since March 2012. In response to the government’s increasing debt, Rep. Broadwater is hopeful to create new methods for Louisiana state debt collection.
According to the article, “Broadwater successfully sponsored legislation this year to establish a pilot program to sell, securitize or auction portions of the state's long-term delinquent accounts. His idea is to allow a bank, collection agency or private citizen to assume the risk of collecting the money in exchange for paying the state a percentage of what is owed.”
John Monderine, CEO and owner of collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution, understands the importance of addressing debt in a timely manner. According to Monderine, “It is crucial that state agencies bill quickly, waiting 12 months to send a bill is financial suicide. If the debtor is not responsive, hire a contingent collective agency like Rapid Recovery Solution.”
The article quotes Broadwater who commented, “I don't necessarily know the reason it's not being paid back. I can certainly guess. Maybe in some cases, [the Louisiana government’s] agencies [are] just not being attentive to the money they're owed.” In addition, the article states that Commissioner of Administration Paul Rainwater is reviewing the option to possibly sell a quarter of the state’s long-term delinquent bills.
