Local dentist, Dr. Bobby Brown, noticed two important things with people in dental emergencies in his 25-plus years in business: “First, not everyone knows what to do in a dental emergency,” says Dr. Brown. “Say you knock out a tooth, well, what do you do right away? What usually happens is that you’re flipping through the yellow pages or navigating through endless advertisements and pop-ups to find the information online. At the same time, Aunt Bertha is yelling at you in the background to wrap it in a squirrel pelt. It’s even worse if you’re on vacation where internet access may be limited. Second, it seems a lot more people are getting stainless steel fridges these days so the “What to do in case of emergency” magnets don’t always work. That’s just for a knocked out tooth, imagine all the other things that can happen. Both those factors cost you valuable time when you might be in a state of panic and you need dental information fast. You could get your children to download it so they will have it when they go back to school.”
Dr. Brown addressed these two problems when he created an instant access free smart phone app. He explains, “By setting up an app on iPhone, Android and Blackberry phones, people can get quick, push button access to tips for a variety of dental emergencies and a bunch of emergency related Peel region numbers, like Hospitals, or Ontario wide numbers, like Poison control. All that, and you can add your own emergency numbers so all of your information is lumped into one easy-to-access location. With this app, you can feel safe and prepared.”
Dr. Bobby Brown invested a lot of effort to make sure that the app is quick and available free for everyone. You can get the iPhone version here: http://www.PeelDentist.com/iphone , the Android version here: http://www.PeelDentist.com/android, and the Blackberry version here: http://www.PeelDentist.com/blackberry. He adds, “We had a lot of fun making this for everyone and we hope you like it. If we can save even one tooth with this, then that would be amazing.”
