Inc. magazine has ranked Vocalocity No. 1073 on its sixth annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.

This is the third year in a row that the cloud-based phone provider has been recognized on the list, which represents the most comprehensive look at a critical segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. Over a three-year period, Vocalocity revenue grew 295 percent to $25.5 million in 2011 from $6.5 million in 2008.

“We are very excited to have been recognized on the Inc. 500|5000 list for the third year in a row,” said Wain Kellum, CEO of Vocalocity. “We leverage a no-contract model and lead our sector in adding new accounts and in customer retention. Our results are due to our ongoing focus on building the very best communications platform for small businesses.”

Vocalocity provides hosted VoIP phone systems to small businesses in the U.S. and Canada. The company’s goal is to power small businesses with easy-to-use, clear and reliable telephony systems. In addition to its recognition as a fast-growing company and an award-winning telework advocate, the company develops in-house, proprietary technologies like mobile apps for iPhone and Android and CRM plugins for Vocalocity Desktop.

Companies on the 2012 Inc. 500|5000 are ranked according to percentage of revenue growth over three years. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2008. Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2011. The minimum revenue required for 2008 is $100,000; the minimum for 2011 is $2 million.

"Now, more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500/5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs, and drive the economy forward. Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is,” says Inc. Editor Eric Schurenberg.
