This Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, two non-profit groups team up again in Southern Nevada.

Saturday, September 29th, 2012 will mark the second annual This One’s for the Boys! Two-Mile Walk and Three-Mile Run to benefit 21st Century C.A.R.E. and the Las Vegas Chapter of Us TOO Prostate Cancer Support Group. The event will take place at 8:30 a.m. at the UNLV Track & Field Stadium. Registration for the event will be $25 online or $30 on the day of the event. The first 100 participants will receive an event t-shirt.

Runners, walkers and volunteers will gather to raise funds and awareness on the importance of prostate cancer screenings and to provide support for those affected by the nation’s second leading cause of cancer deaths. We will also be honoring many Southern Nevada survivors of prostate cancer. Funds raised at the event will benefit both non-profit groups. Saturday’s festivities will begin with registration, the walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. and breakfast will be provided.

Notable attendees will include Us TOO Las Vegas Chapter President, Mr. Tony Crispino – a prostate cancer survivor – the UNLV Cheerleaders, Mr. Danny Tarkanian, Republican Candidate for State Senate, and numerous physicians and medical staff from the community. Many area businesses will also be in attendance promoting their services.

Sponsors of the event include: 21st Century Oncology, Spring Mountain Rehabilitation Center, Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging, the Prostate Cancer Research Institute, and QVegas Magazine.

Also the This One’s for the Boys! Event Co-Director, Crispino describes why he chose to organize this kind of gathering in Las Vegas, “When we started, This One’s for the Boys! was the first prostate walk-run in Las Vegas history. And, this year we want it to be even more well attended and impactful.”

Crispino shares, “As a prostate cancer survivor, creating awareness for this disease is my passion. Just as pink is associated with the important cause of fighting breast cancer, at Us TOO we want to increase prostate cancer awareness and for people to see more blue, or ‘SEA Blue' with s-e-a standing for support, educate and advocate – the primary components of Us TOO’s mission.”

There will be plenty of raffles and door prizes including:

  • Round-trip airfare for two from Southwest Airlines
  • Complimentary two-night stay at the Hooters Casino Hotel
  • Over $800 worth of merchandise from Gold and Silver Pawn Shop and The History Channel’s
