Holland & Hart attorneys James Holtkamp and Tom Sansonetti have been elected as Fellows of the American College of Environmental Lawyers(ACOEL), an honor shared by less than 200 attorneys across the country.

As one of only two current Utah Fellows of ACOEL, Holtkamp has more than 35 years of experience that includes involvement in climate change issues, such as avoided deforestation sequestration in Central America; carbon credit trading in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Europe; corporate climate change policies in the energy sector; and development of governmental climate change programs. He represents clients on environmental, natural resources, and energy project development issues throughout the world. He was recently named one of the first senior fellows of the Wallace Stegner Center at the University of Utah.

As one of only two current Wyoming Fellows of ACOEL, Sansonetti has a nationally recognized practice in natural resources and environmental law. He has served as one of the top leaders in the Department of Justice and also has held the third-ranking position in the Department of the Interior. He is a recognized expert in Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act issues; water rights; the Endangered Species Act; surface mining development and reclamation; Indian law; development of renewable energy projects, including geothermal, solar, and wind projects; oil and natural gas permitting; public lands management; and many other areas of energy and natural resources law.

The American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL) is a professional association of distinguished lawyers who practice in the field of environmental law.
