Long Beach International Film Festival Kick Off Event Presents “Shorts on the Beach”

Long Beach International Film Festival Kick Off Event draws attention to the arts on Long Island. Local sponsors and film enthusiasts are invited to view short, PG-13 films followed by an Achievement Award for Producer Scott Franklin (Black Swan, The Wrestler).

The Long Beach International Film Festival (LBIFF) will hold its “Shorts on the Beach” Film Series on August 30, 2012 in Long Beach, NY. The PG-13 event serves as a platform to promote the arts on Long Island. Producer Scott Franklin, (Black Swan, The Wrestler), will be presented the 2012 Achievement Award by LBIFF Co-Founder’s Craig Weintraub and Ingrid Dodd.

This year’s festival will showcase a variety of short films that are 15 minutes or less and begin at 7:30pm, providing film enthusiasts with a sneak peek into LBIFF 2013, which is planned to be a multi-day event. A live music performance by Reggae artist Mark Shine will set the festive tone followed by the short film screenings at 8:30 p.m. As an added attraction all guests are invited to walk the red carpet at National Blvd & the Boardwalk starting at 7:00 pm.

Additional sponsors enthusiastic to support the LBIFF are Criterium-Tauscher Cronacher Engineers based out of Baldwin, New York, who have worked with many of the condo, co-op and homeowners of the city and surrounding areas. Gold Coast Studios, located in Bethpage, NY has also signed on to support this event. Guest author Mary A. Ellenton, will be signing copies of her new novel FLIPPING. Bangz Hair and Color Lounge will be providing guests with a pre-Red Carpet primp as guests arrive.
Nassau County, one of this years sponsors, and the City of Long Beach show interest in the promising creative prospect for the popular coastal area. “Nassau County has always been a supporter of independent and studio films, and it’s our pleasure to bring this type of entertainment and cultural opportunity to our constituents.” said County Executive Mangano. City Manager Jack Schnirman has equal enthusiasm, "We're thrilled to be hosting the first ever Long Beach International Film Festival this year, and we truly look forward to it becoming a great new tradition in the City."

The evening will top off with an After Party on the Rooftop of the Allegria hotel beginning at 10:30 pm. The Allegria Hotel signed on to sponsor this event and is hosting the private VIP reception as well as offering discounted room rates for those looking to stay to the night.
