Coders and medical staff need to obtain valuable education and training to stay updated on the 2013 code changes.

The American Medical Association (AMA) has released the information regarding the procedural coding changes in 2013, which includes: 185 new, 119 deleted, 263 revised and 32 resequenced codes. Big areas that are changing in 2013 include: office or other outpatient services, consultations, diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, dialysis, immunology, digestive system, musculoskeletal system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system and more.

To assist in providing valuable education and training, Contexo Media presents the Procedural Coding Changes Workshops. It is the preeminent workshop for hands-on practical application of the 2013 procedural coding changes.

Contexo Media will once again be hosting the largest annual conference dedicated to procedural coding changes in the health care industry. “We had coders in mind when we designed and launched this event five years ago and it shows in our attendance," says Bradden Blair, Dean of Education, Contexo Media. “Unlike other conferences which are often overpriced and primarily physician focused, this one-day live conference is geared towards the coder and features two of the industry's foremost medical coding experts. Our experienced instructors will breathe life into the code set as they help coders master the 2013 procedural coding changes. We are also excited to once again be able to offer an eLearning version of our live conference.”

Presented at different locations and in an eLearning format, the entire workshop is tailored to procedural coding changes that will impact a practice’s bottom line. Expert instructors include Susan Thurston, MA, CHCA, CPC, CPC-I,CPC-H, CPC-P, CCS-P, MCS-P, CHCO, CMM, RMC and Margie Scalley Vaught, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-I, CCS-P, MCS-P, ACS-EM, ACS-OR. Locations and formats include Dallas, TX; Boston, MA; Bethesda, MD; Orlando, FL; a live online workshop and an eLearning course.

The workshop is well established in the industry and has been offered by Contexo Media for many years. There will be seven hours of in-depth coverage of the 2013 procedural coding changes, including the most significant updates for specialties. Continuing Education Units are also being offered for attendees from AAPC, AHIMA and ACMCS.
