Most people have heard, but never tried to prove or disprove, the proverb “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” In her new book “Unremarkable in Light” (published by AuthorHouse), author Christine Falk puts that proverb to the test.

Earl is a grown man, but as a child Earl's abusive stepfather came very close to ending his young life. The abuses and long healed scars that Earl and his mother suffered then still haunt him today, more than 30 years later. He deals as best he can, living a quiet, largely solitary life.

But then his family’s friend, Ben, arrives, and needs Earl’s help, and all of Earl’s barriers are about to come crashing down.

An excerpt from “Unremarkable in Light”:

“Lots of churches have stained glass. They are nice in the day time, but you should see that little church at night when everything is dark on the outside and the light from the inside shines through, that is a remarkable sight to see.

When you see it shining from the inside out you will think that little old church is the most beautiful church in the world.”

A portion of the profits from the sale of “Unremarkable in Light” will be donated to the Kids Help Phone charity.
