Titled "The Future of Healthcare: Exploring the National Debate," the Physicians Medical Forum presentation will examine Healthcare Reform and the ACA; the Supreme Court decision; and its impact on physicians, healthcare providers and their patients. Warren J. Strudwick, M.D., M.B.A., Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, and PMF board member will moderate the panel. In addition to Schultz, the roundtable panel will include Honorable Barbara Lee (CA-9), Chair, CAPAC Health Care Taskforce; Marian Mulkey, Deputy Director, Health Care Reform & Public Programs, California HealthCare Foundation; and Albert L. Brooks, M.D., Chief of Medical Services, Washington Hospital, and PMF board president.

NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company will conduct "EHR Best Practices: Lessons Learned in Litigation," a Continuing Medical Education (CME) activity, presented by NORCAL Risk Management Specialist Katie Theodorakis. The presentation will support attendee's ability to apply risk management strategies in order to reduce negative effects on patient treatment, and the consequent professional liability risk associated with EHR (Electronic Health Record) implementation and use.

"Not only will this important roundtable forum provide physicians and healthcare providers with an opportunity to better understand Healthcare Reform and the Affordable Healthcare Act," said Physicians Medical Forum board president, Dr. Albert Brooks. "The panel will have a question and answer session following the presentations."

PMF Executive Director Stalfana Bello strongly encourages physicians to take advantage of the opportunity to earn CME credit. Other healthcare providers may receive CME certificates for non-medical doctors.

The Physicians Medical Forum is an Oakland, CA-based non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage retention and recruitment of African-American physicians, and the betterment of health care for Bay Area communities.

PMF's primary purpose is to increase the number of Northern California African-American physicians, while eliminating health disparities; improving access to care; and maintaining diversity within the profession, thereby improving the quality of life for patients in counties that include Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Solano and Sacramento.
