In “The Adventures of Callie: The Story of a Rescued Calico Kitten” (published by Trafford Publishing) Dr. Ida Acuña-Garza tells the charming story of her rescued cat.
“It is not only about a rescued kitten and how she transformed the household,” notes Acuña-Garza, “but it also shows the many similarities between the emotional experiences of pets and humans, because many humans need rescuing, too!”
“The Adventures of Callie” takes readers through the myriad emotions of the Calico kitten, from happy and angry to fearful and sad. Through the story, Acuña-Garza illustrates the responsibility all adults have to helping the abandoned.
“This book touches on the social responsibility movement of rescuing animals who have been abandoned and promotes the idea of humans taking responsibility for pets who otherwise would be euthanized. It promotes the concept of pets giving unconditional love.”
Acuña-Garza hopes readers are both entertained and inspired by her story.
“I would like readers to face and embrace feelings of rejection, fear and survival. I want readers to relish in the feelings of love and the peace it brings.”
