Being an American and having grown up in Java Indonesia, author Juliana Regina DeLion tends to perceive life and its solutions in a unique way that combines the values of both worlds. But when she was chagrined by a cardiac event that stopped her dead on her tracks at 51, DeLion found herself reevaluating priorities and values, making major changes that impact the rest of her life. Thankfully, that life still exists to be changed.

Heart Attack! tells about DeLion’s own experiences of a major life threatening event, how she was able to endure it and at the same time issues a stern warning that it can happen to anyone, especially those already living with the risk factors of obesity and sedentary lifestyles without really considering to listen to the intrinsic warnings of one’s own body.

The increase in obesity and sedentary lifestyles that leads to heart diseases, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, and other morbidities is a shock in this modern world. Frequent cases related to these factors are reported as epidemics in the news. Amazingly, a lot of people with sedentary lifestyles are the ones who have a strong knowledge base of exercise and nutrition.

It is not within the scope of Heart Attack! to answer any health concerns or treat any diseases. With concern for a better world, DeLion presents in this book her own life experience with the hope that readers will heed her warning and take up a more thoughtful and better lifestyle that honors the body and spirit.

This book will be featured at the 2012 New York State Reading Association Book Exhibit in Syracuse, N.Y. on October 28 -30, 2012.
