This is an unprecedented move in our industry and we can’t wait to expand it to all of our retailers.
Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) August 27, 2012
Today YesVideo is changing the world of personal video forever. The company is unveiling its video sharing service, the first-ever service that enables consumers to send in personal home movies and photos to be transferred for a fee, but stored in the cloud for free, with no limit to the amount of content.
Any number of videos and photos can be stored for free in the cloud and will be accessible on desktop and mobile devices, as well as through social networks like Facebook. Customers will be able to access and share their digitized home movies and photos at http://share.yesvideo.com.
“There’s never been a better time for families who have boxes full of home videos to view and share them online,” says Michael Chang, CEO of YesVideo. “Our mission is to make sure that the over 1.5 billion home movies hiding in America’s closets and garages are digitized and accessible in the cloud. First we delivered easy and simple transfer services at our 34,000 retail partner stores - now we are making it absolutely free to store as much content as you want. This is an unprecedented move in our industry and we can’t wait to expand it to all of our retailers.”
How it works:
YesVideo is making the service available in stores to customers at CVS/pharmacy and Bartell Drugs, and online to customers of Target, Kodak, and Ritz Camera. Customers can simply drop their home videos off at one of these retail locations; the videos are then sent to one of YesVideo’s secure facilities, both of which have state of the art digitization centers. The service is also available directly from YesVideo on their website.
YesVideo stores the digitized videos and photos in the cloud and also returns an archival DVD to the customer along with their original media. All of this typically takes less than three weeks. Once their videos are in the cloud, customers can easily share them with friends and family completely for free. Each video is even automatically separated into scenes, making editing and sharing both simple and fun.
YesVideo believes that everyone’s memories are invaluable and should be unlocked and preserved. The company transfers photos and videos from vintage media (such as 8mm, 16mm, VHS, Beta and Hi8) and new digital formats onto cloud-based storage and archival DVDs, perfect for instant and continuous sharing with friends and family. Precise and delicate care is taken when handling every customer’s invaluable media. YesVideo also takes online security seriously, and takes every precaution to protect consumer's personal content and data.
