Sanford Process Corporation will present two papers, Fit for Purpose: Aluminum Finishing Technologies for Re-Usable Medical Equipment, and The Spectrum of Integral and Non-integral Colors in Different Hard Anodizing Processes, at the International Hard Anodizing Association Symposium in Budapest, Hungary on September 13th and 14th.
"We chose to attend this leading global venue for the aluminum hard anodizing industry as the companies who attend are working every day to solve the practical problems related to anodic coatings for a variety of market and application needs," said Tim Cabot, Principal, Sanford Process Corporation. "This is a terrific forum to introduce both innovative and incremental technology developments to a very practical and problem solving group of people who operate hard anodize facilities around the world."
The first presentation focuses on the emerging requirements for medical applications, the concept of “Fit For Purpose”, and how this impacts medical equipment finishing and material choices, including the adoption of new technologies. The second presentation outlines both existing and new technologies for merging the functional requirements of aluminum hard coat (abrasion, chipping and corrosion resistance) with the decorative properties normally associated with Type II anodic coatings.

About Sanford Process
Sanford Process Corporation is a leading provider of hard coat anodizing solutions and intellectual property based on low voltage hard coat rectification to a range of well-known OEMs and their prime subcontractors worldwide, with an increasing presence in Korea and China. Sanford Process is the developer of MICRALOX® aluminum oxide coating with a microcrystalline barrier that revolutionizes anodizing. MICRALOX® produces a long-lasting, virtually indestructible surface that delivers dramatically superior chemical corrosion resistance and eliminates color fading resulting from super-heated steam sterilization. MICRALOX® treated aluminum is an excellent alternative to stainless steel, plastic and other materials chosen for their chemical stability but which add weight, complexity and cost at a lower thermal conductivity. Further information about MICRALOX® can be found at http://www.micralox.com.
Sanford is also the developer of SANFORD PRINT®, a permanent marking achieved by embedding ink deep into an aluminum hard coat. Completed before the oxide is sealed, the resulting print is secured below the surface and is invulnerable to abrasion, chipping and delamination.
