Learn More About the New Frontier in Web Typography

At the event, Extensis’ Phinney will present the latest in web typography, including the following sessions:

Font Detective, Extra Bold
Tuesday, September 25 | 7p.m.
Phinney discusses and shows evidence from several of the cases he has been called into as a typographic consultant, including a forged will, legislated point size requirements, a seemingly fake rabbi, and the forged documents about President Bush’s National Guard service. Attendees will learn how mistakes in typography, printing and font selection ruined what could have otherwise been perfectly good forgeries.
CSS3 OpenType: The New Web Typography Frontier
Friday, September 28 | 11:15a.m. – 12:00p.m.
Web typography is changing dramatically thanks to browser support for @font-face and server-based web fonts. Web designers now have thousands of font choices where they once had just a dozen. But beyond @font-face, CSS 3 introduces myriad new OpenType typographic controls, bringing a level of typographic precision to web design previously seen only in print.

90% of Design is Typography:
A Hands-on Guide to Great Web Fonts and Typography
Saturday, September 29 | 1:30p.m. – 5:00p.m.
This immersive, hands-on workshop will use CSS3 typographic controls to create great web typography, from the basics of ideal type setting to enabling custom web fonts with @font-face. A live web site will be provided for each participant to practice and experiment on, along with access to WebINK web fonts.

Workshop attendees will receive one year of free web fonts with the WebINK Basic subscription.
