There were so many original ideas for projects and themes submitted to the contest; it was difficult to pick just two winners with so many inspiring entries to choose from.
Hudson, OH (PRWEB) August 30, 2012
Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, the leading fabric and craft specialty retailer in America, is proud to announce the winners of the 2012 Simply for Baby nursery contest: Teresa Brown, of Virginia, and Ali Rockwell, of Illinois.
More than 200 crafters entered the contest by submitting a short video tour of their handcrafted nurseries. Qualified videos were then posted to the Simply for Baby Nursery Contest Pinterest board to inspire future crafters as they plan their nurseries. After multiple rounds of judging by Jo-Ann experts, Ms. Brown and Ms. Rockwell each earned the grand prize package which included a $500 Jo-Ann gift card and prize basket filled with Babyville Boutique™ products, Simplicity® patterns, assorted baby-friendly fabrics and more.
Ms. Brown’s cruise-ship-inspired nursery for her son featured nautical touches from bow to stern including handcrafted porthole mirrors, buoy lamp and life preserver pillows.
“Teresa and the cruise ship nursery she crafted stood out because of the attention to detail,” said Nicole Long, manager of inspiration for Jo-Ann. “From the ingenious porthole mirrors to the cute ‘poop deck’ placard next to the changing table, everything fit within the theme.”
Ms. Rockwell created a calm, gender-neutral space for her daughter with a large assortment of handcrafted items and modern natural theme. Among the handmade items in the nursery were mobiles, lighted wall hangings, block toys, soft books and prints hung on the wall.
“The sheer volume of handmade items in Ali’s nursery set it apart from the competition,” said Long. “Plus, she did a wonderful job staying within her simple color scheme and theme which gave the room some sophistication.”
“All of the entrants in the contest deserve credit for the hard work and creativity they demonstrated in making their nurseries both functional and unique,” continued Long. “There were so many original ideas for projects and themes submitted to the contest; it was difficult to pick just two winners with so many inspiring entries to choose from.”
