By connecting drivers with shipments and delivery jobs, Citizenshipper creates a unique marketplace for drivers and customers. Now, the rapidly growing site expands its operations into Canada.

The site currently boasts 1,500 live shipments. This corresponds to a marketplace of around $1M.

Denver based startup company,, personifies the new peer-to-peer marketplace by connecting people who have shipping requirements with people who can actually do the driving. The site has been serving the US market since 2008, but has just launched its services in Canada broadening its market impact and making it easier than ever before for Canadians to find delivery jobs on CitizenShipper.

Over the last four years the site has grown dramatically and the site currently boasts 1,500 live shipments available for drivers to leave quotes on. "This corresponds to a marketplace with a value of around $1M," says founder and CEO Richard Obousy. "We've created a place where drivers can come and get delivery jobs along their specified routes," continues Obousy.

CitizenShipper allows drivers to pick up a wide range of driving jobs, including kayaks, cars, motorcycles, furniture, heavy equipment and even pet transport. "By expanding into Canada a vast new marketplace is being opened up and also a lot of opportunities for customers and drivers."

What's nice about the platform is that it's fairly straightforward to expand into new geographical locations. "Obviously the English speaking nations are going to be the easiest to expand into," explains Obousy. "This negates the need for translation services and bilingual staff." And with a population about 11% the size of the US population, most living near the border, CitizenShipper is essentially looking at an 11% growth in its audience virtually overnight.

"We have people ask us if we're going to expand in to Canada all the time," says CitizenShipper Driver Relations Manager Jennifer Buchanan. "It's neat to know that people are excited about this new service and I know people will make use of it almost straight away."

"With over 35,000 registered members and such a variety of loads it's a great place for folks to come and find driving jobs," says Jennifer. "If you're planning on driving somewhere anyway, why not take a package along with you and make some money?"

CitizenShipper is an innovator in the peer to peer marketplace. Founded in 2008 and Headquartered in Denver, Colorado the company matches drivers with shipments across the US and Canada through an online reverse auction style marketplace.
