The connectivity we developed leverages HEALTHeLINK’s existing connectivity and results in less risk due to a longer available implementation period.
Itasca, IL (PRWEB) August 30, 2012
APP Design, a software development firm specializing in the design, development and integration of healthcare information exchanges (HIEs), today announced that it has developed CORE Phase II connectivity for HEALTHeNET, the administrative transaction network of Western New York’s Health Information Exchange, HEALTHeLINK™.
The Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare’s (CAQH) Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange (CORE) is a collaboration of more than 130 organizations, including providers, health plans, vendors, government agencies and standard-setting bodies. Formed to develop operating rules to simplify healthcare administrative transactions, the goal of CORE is to give providers access to eligibility and benefits information previous to or at the time of service for any patient or health plan by utilizing whatever electronic system they choose.
Through the connectivity achieved by APP Design, each payer involved in the HIE has its own portal with CORE Phase II application programming interface (API) on the front end and existing payer connectivity on the back end. The payer portals and the HIE’s administrative transaction network split batches and send transactions to existing payer connections, while APP Design maintains the application and provides updates to it.
"The connectivity we developed leverages HEALTHeLINK’s existing connectivity and results in less risk due to a longer available implementation period," stated Robert Quinn, President of APP Design. "There is no reference API implementation cost for payers involved in the HIE, and its payers do not have to implement updates or fix any bugs. In addition, the less software development required by APP Design, the lower the overall cost of the project."
