World renowned artist Bjork has released t shirts for sale on her own website, the proceeds of which are set to be put towards jailed feminist punk band Pussy Riot’s legal defense funds.

"Many people are tuning into the fact that t shirts can be used as an affordable and effective platform to communicate any message" - 8 Ball representative

Various representatives from 8 Ball have commented on yet another charitable venture involving t shirt sales to make headlines in recent weeks.

In an article released by ContactMusic.com, Bjork has announced her support for the three members of punk outfit Pussy Riot, two members of which were placed behind bars earlier this month for performing a provocative song in a cathedral in Moscow that openly protested against Vladimir Putin, Russia’s current leader. The tees up for sale on the web are retailing at just £20 each and feature Pussy Riot’s logo on either a black or white background. The singer has stated that all proceeds from sales of the t-shirts will go towards the group’s legal fees.

It has been announced on the web this week that the band’s lawyers have appealed against the hooliganism conviction in the hope of overturning the verdict.

A staff member at 8 Ball, one of the UK’s top online t shirt retailers, has been quick to comment that this latest move from Bjork follows the course of many other entrepreneurs who in recent times have used t shirt sales to raise funds for charitable causes.

“Bjork has used tees to communicate her support for something she believes in, which is something many other high profile individuals and businesses have also done of late,” he says.

“We’re referring to stories such as the plight of Jordan Bunker, a Leicestershire schoolboy currently producing tees to raise money for a homeless charity, and Topman’s decision to launch a range of tees to generate revenue for the Teenage Cancer Trust – it seems many people are tuning into the fact that t shirts can be used as an affordable and effective platform to communicate any message or cause.”

8 Ball is a leading online retailer of unique t-shirts, delivering thousands of items to UK customers in a huge range of different sizes and designs. From funny slogans to classic rock logos and quirky shirts inspired by pop culture, the tees on offer from the company appeal to all generations and can be printed to order.
