Top Russian Model Vodyanova Takes Part in London 2012 Paralympic Torch Relay

Sochi 2014 Ambassador and top model Natalia Vodyanova took part in the Paralympic Torch Relay at the London Games. With Sochi 2014 volunteers cheering her on from the sidelines all the way, she ran her leg along Evelyn Street in Central London. By getting involved in the Paralympic Torch Relay, Natalia once again confirmed her commitment to promoting the next Games in 2014 in Sochi. Previously, in 2010, Vodyanova opened the Paralympic Flag Handover Ceremony from Vancouver 2010 to Sochi 2014.

Top Russian Model Vodyanova takes part in London 2012 Paralympic Torch Relay

It is a great honor for me to carry the Paralympic Torch, the flame of which represents the achievements of the entire Paralympic Movement throughout the world.

Sochi 2014 Ambassador and top model Natalia Vodyanova took part in the Paralympic Torch Relay at the London Games. With Sochi 2014 volunteers cheering her on from the sidelines all the way, she ran her leg along Evelyn Street in Central London. By getting involved in the Paralympic Torch Relay, Natalia once again confirmed her commitment to promoting the next Games in 2014 in Sochi. Previously, in 2010, Vodyanova opened the Paralympic Flag Handover Ceremony from Vancouver 2010 to Sochi 2014.

While in London, Vodyanova is keen to support the Russian Paralympic athletes during their competitive events and to meet many of them in person.

Natalia Vodyanova, a Sochi 2014 Ambassador, remarked:

In London right now, the Paralympic athletes are rightly in the spotlight - they are setting new standards in terms of strength and determination, and will inspire the world!

“As here in London, I'm convinced that the Paralympic Winter Games in 2014 will put into practice the principles of inclusion and integration and that the barrier-free environment established in Sochi during the Games will become a catalyst for profound social change throughout all of Russia."

Notes to the editor

The Summer Paralympic Games in London will take place between August 29 and September 9, 2012. In total, more than 4200 athletes from 166 countries will take part, competing in 21 different sports. The Russian Paralympic team includes 183 athletes and 6 leading athletes, from more than 40 regions in Russia.
